Verification isn’t something we recommend automatically. From the field, we look for specific conditions that indicate when confirmation is necessary. These include congested corridors, conflicting records, depth sensitive work, or projects involving boring or drilling. Sites with long histories or multiple owners also tend to require a closer look.
When we recommend verification, it’s not because the locate is wrong. It’s because the consequences of uncertainty are too high.
We also pay close attention to how the information will be used. If excavation tolerance is tight or if multiple utilities cross the work area, confirming conditions before digging protects everyone involved. Damage prevention is about judgment. Knowing when to locate, when to inspect, and when to verify is what separates safe projects from avoidable mistakes.
